Leigh Teece, CEO + Founder
We believe mentorship is a powerful way to change the course of someone's life. A mentor can foster opportunity and learning that can change the world.
Leigh is an energetic and adventurous world traveler whose scope of work is diverse and complex. She is an educator, entrepreneur, mentor, advisor and philanthropist. Leigh is the proud mother of four remarkable young-adult children.
Leigh’s journey with her children is an important part of her own education. Their schooling unexpectedly involved boarding schools 3,000 miles from home. The vast array of schools required Leigh to interview and be interviewed by scores of educational institutions which conferred an immersive, autodidactic education in how the best educate their students. Their came to include Eaglebrook, Andover, the University of Pennsylvania, Yale, Claremont McKenna College and Swarthmore, to name only a few with which Leigh became very familiar as she guided her children in these school decisions. As she learned more about the game-changing educational opportunities that these schools afforded students, she grew more passionate about making great education available to many more students. The advent and growth of the internet, together with superb partners, made this dream a reality.
The result in 2006 was the founding of World Mentor, an innovative 501c3 that became her focus. As she collaborated with other mentoring experts, Leigh found that she and David Neils were kindred spirits; David is the software engineer who created HP’s early mentoring program, which he spun off and proudly operated as the International Telementor Program (ITP) until 2015. In that year, David wrapped ITP into World Mentor under the stewardship of their highly-regarded former CEO, Kurt Friedmann. Together, the three co-founded Mentored Pathways, which currently operates as the premier program of World Mentor.
