About Leigh
Leigh is an innovator, business woman, educator, mentor and speaker. She runs a portfolio of projects that address her interests.
Innovation:
Leigh is active in the innovation ecosystem of Berkeley and the broader Silicon Valley. She is co-founder of SkyDeck, UC Berkeley's premier accelerator; she sits on SkyDeck’s executive Strategy Council, is a SkyAdvisor and represents SkyDeck globally as a speaker. Leigh is co-founder of Seoul’s HanYang University Global Alliance Council that gives incubation and acceleration support to local startups, to enable HYU to realize its vision become the innovation gateway for South Korea.
Education:
Leigh is President of the Teece Family Foundation, which has contributed to teacher and student-focused experiential learning opportunities for the last 30 years. It has provided funding and fellowships to the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, St Petersburg State University (Goedinghaus Fellowships), Phillips Andover Academy, the Eaglebrook Junior Boarding School and Bentley School, among others. Leigh is also founder and Chair of World Mentor and director of its premier program, Mentored Pathways, which has mentored over 50,000 primarily high schools students online, one-on-one with professionals as mentors, for multiple semesters since 1995.
In collaboration with Stanford’s Hoover Institute, Leigh is leading the creation of a full-fledged partnership between top U.S. research universities and high-level U.S.congressional leaders to achieve agreement on the fair use of intellectual property.
Leigh is a nine-year member of the Advisory Board of the Kravis Leadership Institute of Claremont McKenna College and leads the growth of the start-up Kravis Labs for CMC. She sits on the Advisory Board of the award-winning non-profit, Global Citizen Year, which provides curated gap-year options for students.
Leigh is newly founding the Advisory Board for SkillZilla (Japan); she is mentor creator/manager for BridgeUSA.
Business:
Leigh is co-founder and owner of Mt Beautiful Winery and Teece Family Farms in New Zealand. Her special interest in promoting Women in Wine is reflected on www.mtbeautifulwines.com.
Women’s Leadership:
Leigh is actively involved in several women’s leadership projects. She is co-founder of the meta-program, the Global Council on Woman & Power. Leigh sits on the Executive Board of Women Leaders of the World (WLW), founded in 2004, and is a Global Advisor of How Women Lead in the WLW group.
Art, Music and Theatre:
Leigh is a proactive eight-year member of the Board of Cal Berkeley's premier art, music and theatre group, Cal Performances; among other roles, Leigh leads the Board’s development of its futuristic Performing Arts Center.
Prior to proudly raising four industrious children, Leigh was a research assistant at the High/Scope Educational Research Foundation, co-founder and Senior Vice President of Technology Interlink, Vice President of Technology Funding Venture Capital, and Vice President of Wells Fargo & Co.
Leigh earned her MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, and her BA from the University of Southern California’s School of International Relations. Her commitment to life-long learning is reflected in her receipt of Columbia University's School of Business's Certificate in Executive Education.

Bionic LearningTM and iSHOCTM
Co-founder
Bionic Learning is a new dynamic learning model based on the scientific method. Bionic Learning begins with inquiry, scans for hypotheses to test, entails observation and orientation, and results in the creation of new knowledge. The acronym iSHOC is shorthand for inquiry, scanning, hypothesizing, observation and creation of new knowledge.
World Mentor and Mentored Pathways
Co-founder
Since our founding by Hewlett-Packard in 1995, we have mentored over 50,000 students in 11 countries. These mentees receive individualized support, in-depth analysis of challenges and life-changing guidance from industry professionals in 22 countries. We help students in grades 6-12, in community colleges, universities and in careers, both in classrooms and independently through subscriptions. We provide incubation and acceleration support online as startups work with knowledgable experts in conformity with the SkyDeck model, which these start ups would experience if they were physically located at SkyDeck in Berkeley,

Leigh's eight-year contribution to the Board has led to the continued excellence of Cal Performances' Art, Theatre and Music offerings.

Advisory Board
Leigh's nine-year tenure on the Advisory Board of the Kravis Leadership Institute has led to her leadership role with Kravis Labs to realize the vision of Henry Kravis to create experiential learning opportunities for CMC students that achieve meaningful real-world impact.
Global Alliance Council, HanYang University (HYU), Seoul South Korea
Co-founder
Leigh created the Global Alliance Council after her participation in HanYang University's 80th Anniversary Global Accelerators Conference and Startup Pitch Celebration. The HYU Global Alliance Council is designed to enable the 12 Innovation Panelists who participated in HYU's 80th Anniversary Celebration collectively to create a solution that enables HYU to fulfill their ambitious goal to become the gateway for innovation in South Korea. Leigh and her fellow panelists signed MOUs with HYU and the Seoul Startup Hub of the South Korean Seoul Business Agency to demonstrate their agreement to optimize innovation and entrepreneurship in So Korea.
Mt Beautiful Winery & Teece Family Farms

Inspired by the beauty of New Zealand and its stunning wines, Leigh co-founded Mt. Beautiful Wines in the North Canterbury region of New Zealand in 2004. Rather than complacently settling in one of North Canterbury’s proven wine-growing areas, her team plowed unknown soil as they pioneered in previously undiscovered areas of the region - the picturesque district of Cheviot Hills. Taking thoughtful advantage of this breathtakingly beautiful topography, Leigh and her team has built one of New Zealand’s most compelling wineries of our era.

For the last 30 years the Teece Family Foundation has contributed to experiential learning opportunities globally. Its premier accomplishment is the evolution of World Mentor, which has mentored over 50,000 primarily high school students my enabling long-term, online mentoring one-on-one with diverse professionals in industry. The foundation has also provided scholarship and fellowships to students and teachers at the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, St Petersburg State University (Goedinghaus Fellowships funded by Leigh's mother), Phillips Andover Academy, the Eaglebrook Junior Boarding School and Bentley School, among other noteworthy organizations.
BridgeUSA
Lead Mentor
Leigh mentors the 70 chapter leaders of BridgeUSA as it expands its scope and influence in order to bridge the gap between polar opposite opinions, with an initial focus on political, gender and diversity-based divisiveness. Beginning with regional expansion at Chapman University in Southern California, Bridge is implementing ambitious plans to scale to universities and colleges globally. The New Knowledge Manifesto, developed by Leigh and Po Chi Wu, creates the innovation-based economic foundation for knowledge tailored to the New Knowledge Economy.
Global Council on Women & Power

The Global Council on Women & Power envisions a world in which the 50% of the World Population comprised of women has power equal to their numbers. This would create a sea-change in the mindset of the entire world population. Our initial focus is on financial literacy, financial abuse of women, education, health, technology and innovation.
